Ostomy and Wound Care Services
It’s our mission to make sure that every patient receives the highest quality of care not only during a procedure, but after as well. That’s why we offer Wound and Ostomy Care Services from certified Enterostomal Therapy nurses at two of our locations, Irving and Medical City Hospital of Dallas.
Sometimes certain procedures such as a colostomy or an ilesotomy require that a patient receive a stoma to help with the elimination of waste (feces). A stoma is an artificial opening created by attaching a portion of your bowel to the skin on your abdomen allowing waste to be transferred to the outside of the body into a bag or pouch. A stoma can be permanent or temporary depending on the procedure, but all stomas require special care.
We understand that living with a stoma can be a big change, requiring not only medical support but emotional support as well. It’s our goal to ensure that our patients resume normal life habits, be independent with their stoma care and have a positive self image. Our nurses are trained to help patients modify the care of their stoma and address their needs for comfort, security and reliability.
