Dr. Downs is board certified by both the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. After finishing his surgical residency at the University of Missouri, he served as a surgeon in the United States Air Force. He completed his fellowship training in Dallas at Presbyterian and Parkland Hospitals and has been in private practice at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas since 1993. In addition to his private practice, he is active in the colorectal fellowship training program at Presbyterian Hospital. He and his wife Carol Lee reside in Dallas and have two children.
