Dr. Simmang received his postgraduate medical education in surgery at Brooke Army Medical Center and his colon and rectal surgery training at Washington University Medical Center in St. Louis. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. He spent more than 10 years on the colon and rectal teaching faculty of UT Southwestern in Dallas. In addition to D Magazine honors, he has been named to the rosters of Texas Monthly's Super Docs and Best Doctors in America. He has served on the editorial boards of four medical science journals as well as the Standards Committee and the Laparoscopic Education Committee of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. He recently joined Texas Colon and Rectal Surgeons to expand his private practice focus on screening colonoscopy and laparoscopic surgery for benign and malignant conditions.
