J. Marcus Downs, M.D.
Board Certified American Board of Colon & Rectal Surgery

"Prevention is often easier than cure. I encourage all patients to ask questions and be educated about the problems they face. This allows them to make better decisions regarding their health care."

Dr. Downs is the program director for the residency program in colon & rectal surgery at Parkland and Presbyterian Hospitals in Dallas. Dr. Downs has conducted his private practice as a part of Texas Colon & Rectal Specialists since 1993. Dealing with patient wellness and overcoming potential colorectal problems in his practice, Dr. Downs believes preparation and education is key and has been a proponent of preparation in many areas of his surgical career. While serving in the U.S. Air Force, following Operation Desert Storm, Dr. Downs published an article on "Preparation for Mass Combat Casualties" for Emergency Care Quarterly.
